...immortality feat. eternal youth?

Although plastic surgery works wonders nowadays, these wonders are nothing compared to possibility to stay naturally young forever. Why would we need eternal life without enjoying a splendid opportunity to stay always young? Old age has never had any privileges. Who said something about wisdom, eh? Would you be interested in experience and wisdom when your body is fragile, your face has eternal imprints of the past on it and there's just too much 'snow' in your hair? (Head&Shoulders no longer helps, not that it ever did) I'm sure that you'd eagerly prefer staying forever young to being wise, smart and even adequate. In any case, you are offered neither immortality nor eternal youth yet, so let's just wisely discuss the subject while the scientific and way too romantic minds of the world are working on a certain elixir!

How much happiness would immortality accompanied by such pleasant bonus as eternal youth bring to you?

On the one hand – the amount is quite uncountable. If you had an amazingly exciting possibility to live forever and stay as fresh as a daisy (or a cucumber) you would have much too much time to achieve most things you dream about. You would find love, earn money, catch fame or anything that you had an irresistible desire to catch. You would have an eternallifelong possibility to master as many professions as possible and become experts in many spheres – medicine, education, astronomy, business, computers, the list could go on endlessly! Knowing you'll live forever, you would have so much love with equally young and energetic people that it would only light up the fire of eternity in your perception of the rest quite mortal world. Maybe you would even manage to achieve fame and shock the world with your eternally youth talent.

However, any medal has its opposite – usually less inspiring side, our situation isn't an exception. Let's say you really possess the gift of being immortal and always young. You have reached considerable success in many spheres, have found many 'loves', you enjoy an exceptional opportunity to be exceptionally wise and young simultaneously, you have tried all things you could ever wish for...Now let's reflect on possible price of all these achievements.

Eternal youth does mean eternal love but with different people. It suggests watching the close people you love grow old. It's not that you desperately want to 'join' them but you won't be able to share your immortality with them either. The only possible way out is leaving people you love, leaving without a trace. Possibly it would suggest constantly changing places of living, cities or maybe even countries.

Even if you desperately longed for fame, you would hardly ever share your secret of immortality with the rest of the world. That would most likely mean finding yourself somewhere in a strange room one night surrounded by people wearing white gowns and intending to examine your exceptional phenomenon all over. That's why even if you achieved fame, it would most possibly be transient. Would the whole immortal thing bring you happiness? Most likely at some moments of success and euphoria it would. But then you'd realize that the price you pay for it is eternal incurable unchangeable loneliness. If you still think it's not too high, start looking for that very notorious elixir and go for it!
